During the incident, Bieber shot and killed the suspect who ran from police and stabbed him multiple times.
“With all the ignorant decisions being made in our state right now with regards to police officers this case shows why they need to take a second look,” said Commissioner Dan Decker. “As he was being stabbed, he was able to continue his duty.

EAST PEORIA, Ill. East Peoria City Council put plans into motion on Tuesday night to invest in traffic technology to make three intersections safer.
Commissioners approved a first reading of a resolution that would green-light “dilemma zone detection,” smart technology that can alter a traffic light’s timing based on oncoming traffic.
Sensors are placed on top of poles near a given intersection that detect oncoming vehicles’ speed and distance from a traffic light. Those sensors then estimate whether or not it’s safe for the light to change colors and, if it isn’t safe, it tells the light to delay changing colors until the car has passed through.

EAST PEORIA, Ill. It’s unclear what caused an early morning garage fire that spread to an East Peoria home Wednesday morning.
East Peoria Fire Chief John Knapp said the call came in just before 4 a.m. in the 200 block of Glen Oak.
“We ended up having an on-duty police officer who happened to be on patrol that discovered the fire. He was able to assist the occupants of the home, made them aware of the fire and assist them out of the house,” Knapp said.
One of the occupants was transported to a hospital for evaluation. But, it appears that she’s doing fine, according to Knapp.
