The Jefferson City Jays heard the final horn Friday night and celebrated their 43-21 victory against the Kirksville Tigers by sliding across the rainy Adkins Stadium turf following the Class 4 District 5 semifinal matchup.
It was a fitting celebration for the Jays, who advanced to their second straight district championship game with the win.
The Jefferson City Jays are running into a bye week at the right time. The Jays are coming off their best performance of the season last week, a 58-14 win on the road against the Moberly Spartans, and have been using the off week to come out even better next week.
For the first time since 1957, the Jefferson City Jays and the Moberly Spartans will meet on the gridiron tonight at 7 p.m. in Moberly. It’s just the 11th meeting between the two sides, with the Jays leading 5-4-1 in the all-time series.
