New Food Truck Park Opens in Old East Dallas

A new food truck park has opened at 1716 N. Hall St. in Old East Dallas. Chuckwagon Park will host a revolving lineup of food trucks, and to kick things off this weekend they ll be giving out free beer with any $10 purchase. And that, my friends, is how you become a good neighbor. Patrick Donlin with Chuckwagon Park said they opened last weekend for neighborhood walkup traffic, a soft-opening of sorts, while putting the final touches on a parking lot. He said they’ve heard people had wanted this type of experience in the neighborhood, but the challenge has been getting the word out and he worries about turning drivers into diners.

AllGood Cafe Hosts Pop-Up Dinner This Weekend with Deep Ellum Café Chef Brian Hennington

In the mid-’80s Hennington brought chef-driven fare to the neighborhood with his restaurant Deep Ellum Café. Years later, he helped Snider create the menu and some recipes for AllGood Cafe. Hennington now lives in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas where he and his family tend to a 40-acre organic farm. This weekend, Hennington will return to his old stomping grounds with a special menu for the pop-up dinner at AllGood Cafe (which includes the Deep Ellum Vietnamese grilled chicken salad). There s also a tease for the best burger in Texas, which definitely has our attention. While dinner is served, Slavens will be on the piano, a gig he’s looking forward to.

Celebration Celebrates 50 Years of Serving Local, Home-Style Food

It s been 50 years since the home-cooking restaurant Celebration opened on Lover s Lane, and while some things have changed with the times, others haven’t. After leading Dallas toward farm-to-table dining long before it was trendy, the restaurant continues to offer a rotating menu of fresh, local and sustainable food. Meals still start with a basket of baked-in-house yeast rolls, muffins and cornbread. A long-time favorite place for family gatherings and festivities, Celebration knows a lot about celebrating. Starting March 1, the restaurant will be both the host and the honoree of a special bash to mark their 50th year in business.
