The imam of capital's Dakshinkhan Sardar Para Mosque and his accomplice today confessed to magistrates that garment worker Azharul Islam was killed in a preplanned manner. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Dhiman Chandra Mondol and Abu Sufian Md Noman respectively recorded the confessional statements of Imam Abdur Rahman and the victim's wife Asma Akter after Investigation
Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today said the murder was preplanned.
The victim s wife Asma Akter conspired the murder with the Dakshinkhan Sardar Para Mosque Imam Abdur Rahman seven days before Ramadan.
Rab arrested Abdur yesterday morning and after collecting information from him recovered Azharul s body from the tank. Rab later also arrested Asma.
Rab said Abdur used to visit the victim s house and teach Arabic to Azharul and his son.
At one point, Abdur and the victim s wife started a relation of which Azharul came to know of in March and he then asked the Imam to not to visit his home any longer, said the Rab official.

Law enforcers recovered mutilated body of a man from the septic tank of a mosque in Dhaka s Dakshinkhan area this morning.
The deceased was identified as Azharul Islam, aged around 40, a garment factory worker.
A team of Rab first detained Abdur Rahman, Imam of the Dakshinkhan Sardar Para Mosque, and later based on his information, the body was recovered from the septic tank early today, said Shiker Mohammad Shamim Hossain, officer-in-charge of Dakshinkhan Police Station.
Police and Rab said that the body was mutilated after murder and dumped inside the tank.
