BISMARCK North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum underwent a successful hip replacement surgery on Friday, March 12, according to the governor s office.
Spokesman Mike Nowatzki declined to disclose where Burgum got the surgery, citing medical privacy and security reasons. Nowatzki said the 64-year-old governor has had a bad hip for a while, and the surgery arose out of wear and tear rather than an emergency.
âExceptional candidates, top recruits, very qualified.â
Thatâs how Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King describes 10 new officers recently sworn in to his department.
King credits an âaggressive recruitment strategyâ for the new hires, as law enforcement agencies in general experience what he calls a âhiring crisis.â

The officers will fill spots created by retirements, both recent and anticipated in upcoming months, as well as bringing staffing levels up, King said.
