Police: Vehicle strikes pedestrian, car carrying infant in Ansonia; driver sought FacebookTwitterEmail Police cruiser file photoContributed / Getty ANSONIA Police said several people were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after the driver of an Audi struck a car carrying an infant passenger and a pedestrian before coming to a stop in a parking lot. Police said the operator of the Audi and a passenger both fled the scene and have not been located. The car was not stolen and authorities expect to make an arrest. The incident began minutes before 2 p.m. when an Ansonia police officer attempted to stop the silver Audi on North Main Street near Liberty Street, Lt. Patrick Lynch said through a press release.

Police said the incident began just before 2 p.m. when a patrol officer tried to stop a silver Audi on North Main Street at Liberty Street. The Audi did not stop, according to police, and instead sped toward the intersection of North Main and Third streets in the wrong travel lane. The officer did not chase the car, according to police. Updated: 8:07 PM EDT July 16, 2021 ANSONIA, Conn. Police are looking for two people following a crash that injured a person who was hit by a car. On Friday afternoon, police tried to stop a silver Audi on North Main and Liberty Street. The car drove away quickly travelling north. The officer did not try to pursue the car. Police say the car struck another car that was trying to turn left onto Third Street, which caused it to drive onto the sidewalk and hit a fire hydrant, a person, and a tree before coming to a stop in front of the Daily Mart parking lot.
