After obsessing over the January 6 Capitol Hill riot for the past year, the media are now using its one-year anniversary to advocate for unprecedented, sweeping election reforms.
Democrats would have been foolish not to make political hay out of this anniversary, and so they've decided to wield it as a justification for federalizing America's elections. Naturally, their friends in the media quickly flooded the zone with articles and TV segments supporting the party's cause.

trump refused to answer, ana. boris, sanchez at the white house. thank you. joining us now is senator ron johnson, a republican from wisconsin, he s the chairman of the homeland security and government affairs committee and a member of the senate foreign relations committee. senator johnson, thank you for joining us. our condolences for the loss of your colleague. i know it s a somber day for everyone in washington so let s start our conversation talking about senator mccain. he served as a senator for more than 30 years. he called it the most important job i have had in my life. what do you see as his defining mark on that governing body? good morning. john was a larger-than-life figure and if there is one word that symbolizes john, in the end it was healing. he was a feisty guy. you could get in an argument with him pretty fast but he was one of the first people to stand up and say okay, let s figure out how we can come together and
pictures that have come up over the last few days. it s been remarkable. i love all the pictures you shared with us, your personal trove of photos with family, with mccain. you see the love and the just real comradery that you shared. former vice-president joe biden spoke on mccain s last acts in trying to change the culture of washington. let s listen. all we do today is attack the opposition of both parties, their motives. not the substance of their argument. the last day john was on the senate floor, what was he fighting to do? he was fighting to restore what we call regular order. to start to treat one another again like we used to. wes, why do you think biden felt it was important to include
florida where we re expecting him to focus heavily on the economy. maybe meet with some pastors, as well as cuban american voters. back to you guys. sara, thanks so much. cnn political commentator and political anchor of time warner cable news errol louis and matt visor and daily beast washington bureau correspondent jackie kucinich. errol, do you agree six days out we re now hearing the candidates final arguments? if so, we ll start with hillary clinton, is she making the argument not so much about her vision or her plan, but that his on fitness is just disqualifying? she s going right back to the argument that donald trump has disqualified himself. you can sort of read between the lines. this wasn t the argument they had hoped or intended to make in the closing days, but different events and we can thank fbi director comey for this, i think, in part. have made it impossible for her to get to that.
