NEWPORT, RI Spring has sprung in Rhode Island, which means one thing in Newport: it s daffodil season. This April, the city is encouraging visitors and residents to go on a scavenger hunt around the city to find out just how many blooms there are.
There are more than 1,200 daffodil bulbs in Rhode Island, but you don t have to count them all, one by one. Instead, the scavenger hunt includes four fields of flowers. At each, there is a stake with a painted daffodil and a black number. Add all the numbers up, and you ll have the total number of bulbs donated to the city by Daffodillion over the years.
