Residents and visitors are encouraged to visit four daffodil fields to find exactly how many bulbs were donated by Daffodillion. (Rachel Nunes/Patch)
NEWPORT, RI — Spring has sprung in Rhode Island, which means one thing in Newport: it's daffodil season. This April, the city is encouraging visitors and residents to go on a scavenger hunt around the city to find out just how many blooms there are.
There are more than 1,200 daffodil bulbs in Rhode Island, but you don't have to count them all, one by one. Instead, the scavenger hunt includes four fields of flowers. At each, there is a stake with a painted daffodil and a black number. Add all the numbers up, and you'll have the total number of bulbs donated to the city by Daffodillion over the years.
