other relevant immigration agencies at the time i was a career official came up with as the things that we need to be able to do our jobs n. that list there are these fixes that i m just talking about, including getting rid of the diversity visa program because of its it just degrades the integrity of our immigration visa programs generally, ending chain migration. these are all things we have suggested in the priorities that the president advanced. so we hope we we hope and expect that congress will take those priorities seriously and will do as much as they can to accomplish the goals that we set forth. down. these issues conversed with a spending bill that will be under a lot of pressure. it may be, but i kind of think you are mixing things that shouldn t be mixed. the first is republicans control both houses of congress and the white house. there has never been a shutdown in the history of the united states in which the government s all three branches were controlled by the same party. all republicans have to do is do their job and they can pass the budget. they don t need any democrats. martha: here s the thing, there are a lot of republicans and independents who believe that the daca bill should be extended. it could be problematic. the point is the root of this problem is that by large majorities, the american people support extending citizenship or protection to kids that came here as toddlers and babies who are americans.
