only 23 republicans and 62 democrats voted no. why won t republicans vote for a bill to expand and store the full right to vote? i think if you look at the recent vote on it. it did get bipartisan vote including mine. it did? i sat next to a woman named cynthia mckinny to be in congress. i would not be here without the voters rights act. what the white democrats in the south were doing were putting enough african-american votes in congressional or political districts to make it so that republicans could not win and black could not win. to me there had been great advantages for both parties but for american in general because of voting rights. why oppose it?
