Individuals. A number of postal truck break ins san jose jumped from 5 last year to 16 so far this year. Many of the crimes happened within a onemile radius of this station near st. James park downtown. The thieves are breaking into the back of locked trucks while the carrier is out delivering mail. Its surprising. I mean maybe it needs security to follow them around. There needs to be better locks on the mail trucks. Maybe an alarm or something. Reporter the Postal Service says both packages and letters were stolen. And so far they have had no reports of identity theft. But again we just had another break in last thursday. Wednesday morning as a flames engulfed an area near the getty center in the brentwood area of los angeles. The fire broke out near the 405 freeway and mulholland drive just before 5 a. M. , Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said. The fire had burned about 6 acres, stewart said. A sigalert was issued for the closure of all northbound lanes on the 405 freeway just after 5 a. M. , according to the california highway patrols traffic incident log. Officials were considering closing the southbound lanes as well. The fire began as crews are spread across Southern California fighting several brush fires, including the thomas fire, the creek fire and the rye fire. Forecasters are calling for another afternoon of gusty winds, which will help fuel the fires on wednesday. Took place in this area in the 700 block of harrison as you walk down the sidewalk. Look to your right. Youre going to see the van right there, its got damage on there. We believe thats where the man collided and his body ended up over there on the sidewalk where that lady is walking. Thats eventually where he was pronounced dead. We spoke with Oakland Police just over an hour ago. They told thus happened just before 11 00 p. M. Last night. The driver of the car was northbound on harrison. The officers believe that this person was speeding when they hit at least one parked vehicle and the man on the bicycle. Peter ye was working at a nearby parking lot when he heard a bunch of loud sounds. About three banging noise. Reporter the car stopped and remained on the scene until police arrived.
