Took place in this area in the 700 block of harrison as you walk down the sidewalk. Look to your right. Youre going to see the van right there, its got damage on there. We believe thats where the man collided and his body ended up over there on the sidewalk where that lady is walking. Thats eventually where he was pronounced dead. We spoke with Oakland Police just over an hour ago. They told thus happened just before 11 00 p. M. Last night. The driver of the car was northbound on harrison. The officers believe that this person was speeding when they hit at least one parked vehicle and the man on the bicycle. Peter ye was working at a nearby parking lot when he heard a bunch of loud sounds. About three banging noise. Reporter the car stopped and remained on the scene until police arrived. All right, thanks for the latest there, bob. Were also following a developing story out of San Francisco this morning. One person is dead, several others treated after a Carbon Monoxide leak. We brought you this as live breaking news this morning on today in the bay. Steve has been live at the house since early this morning in the heights neighborhood of San Francisco, very tragic ending to this story, pete. Reporter yeah, good morning, tragic ending to the story like you mentioned there. Were at the corner of eugenea and multiy. At this two story building. Theyre still trying to determine exactly where that source of that Carbon Monoxide came from. Thats why you have pge here on the ground, but let me show you guys some scene video from this morning. Now according to San Francisco fire, they got the call at around 4 26 a. M. This 911 call from one of the tenants on the second floor of this twounit building. I want to put out four people live on the second floor unit. That elderly couple lived on the first floor. The Carbon Monoxide detectors were going off when they arrive, they heard those detectors. Theyre able to rescue the four people that lived on the second floor. For the elderly couple, theyre only able to save that one woman who was living there, the elderly woman, and they had to break entry because there was no response at the time. And when they went into that first floor, theyre saying that both of them were unconscious. That woman, that elderly woman is now in the hospital, at a local hospital in serious condition, but they were unable to resuscitate the elderly man. Now, we did speak to one person who lives on the second floor of the building as well as San Francisco fire about todays incident. We just got in in october. So were really thanking the universe and our Management Company for installing that. Just in time so that we could i mean yeah, were alive and healthy. Were commending the individuals from the upper levels for calling 911. They basically saved the life of the lady who was unconscious thats currently at the hospital. She has been exposed to these gases for any longer time, she probably would have been a fatality as well. Reporter taking you back out here live, pge crews here still at the house looking for exactly where that Carbon Monoxide leak may have started. I want to point out that pge will come to your home to look for any leaks, especially during this Holiday Season as people are using their heaters more and more. I know when i spoke to San Francisco fire earlier, one of the potential sources may have been either the water heater or the heater, but of course thats still under investigation. Were live in San Francisco, nbc bay area news. Thanks so much, pete. New details now on a story we first broke during the today show this morning, a fire burning underneath b. A. R. T. I ran out of tears. Theres no more. Reporter if the fire proves unmanageables, officials may have no choice but to focus on evacuating over fire fighting. While we have so far had less than 200 homes and buildings damaged or destroyed, 15,000 homes and buildings remain in the fires path. Live in ventura, back to you.
