A recent Federal Court decision could make it more difficult for Canadian government officials to cancel someone s NEXUS trusted-traveller card for a minor infraction.
Federal Court Justice John Norris ruled late last month that revoking a Montreal man s membership in the NEXUS trusted traveller program for neglecting to declare some of the cash he was carrying was unreasonable. Norris set aside the decision to cancel the card and ordered that the matter be remitted for reconsideration by a different decision maker.

Ottawa failed to properly implement sexual misconduct report, top Defence civil servant says
Canada s deputy minister of National Defence says the military s operation to end sexual misconduct in its ranks lost its way because the government failed to properly implement recommendations from a landmark report into the issue six years ago.

“We have received repeated assurances that the mechanism in place will not affect the vaccine shipments that are coming to Canada,” Ng told members of the Commons Standing Committee on International Trade.
Conservative trade critic Tracy Gray asked Ng if she had anything in writing from her European counterparts.
“You only have a verbal assurance is what you are saying today,” Gray said.
“I have multiple assurances through myself and through minister Hajdu, and from the prime minister that vaccine shipments to Canada will not be affected by this mechanism,” Ng replied.
Bottom line, all of those assurances were in phone calls and Ng has nothing in writing. That’s a problem says lawyer and international trade specialist Cyndee Todgham Cherniak.
