4. Cyclone Yaas is likely to cross the Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Islands around noon on May 26 as a very severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 155-165 kmph, Kolkata s Regional Meteorological Centre Deputy Director Sanjib Bandopadhyay said.
5. The coastal districts of Purba and Paschim Medinipur, South and North 24 Parganas, along with Howrah and Hooghly will experience light to moderate rainfall in most places with heavy to very heavy downpours in one or two places from May 25 owing to the intensifying Cyclone Yaas.
6. On May 26, the spread and intensity of rain will increase with the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in Jhargram, Purba and Paschim Medinipur, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and Kolkata in West Bengal, according to the MeT Department.
The IMD on Saturday confirmed that 'Cyclone Yaas' was moving swiftly in the northwest direction and will transform into a complete cyclonic storm by May 26.

Over a dozen trains from the National Capital to and from Bhubaneswar and Puri in Odisha cancelled by the Northern and Southern Railways ahead of Cyclone Yaas.
In view of the approaching Cyclone Yaas, the Northern Railway has temporarily suspended over a dozen trains from the National Capital to Bhubaneswar and Puri in Odisha. Cyclone Yaas is likely to make landfall along the Bengal-Odisha coast between May 24 and May 26.

Puri-New Delhi Special has been cancelled on May 24, 25, and 26 and the New Delhi Puri special on May 23, 24, and 25.
18 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in Odisha. Seven teams have been deployed in Balasore, 4 in Bhadrak, 3 in Kendrapada, 2 in Jajpur, one each in Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj. Four teams have been kept as reserve, as per the NDRF.
