Quarters of general washington. This is it for plancks point in 1782. So lets locate you where were talking about in space here. This is a map showing that the washington rochambeau route. So in 1781, the french army is up around newport there in rhode island, most of washington is is in the Hudson Highlands. And so that is in this area right here. They steal a march partly by land, partly by sea, and they block up Cornwallis Army at yorktown. Theres an image showing you the area of the Hudson Highlands. So to zoom in a little bit, the spot were looking at about six miles north of new york city, and its the first spot where the hudson river starts to narrow enough and it gets into a hilly country. This was the important crossing point in a place called kings ferry.
