HOMER-CENTER APPROVES HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN DURING SPECIAL MEETING By Hometown2 Jul 20, 2021 | 9:52 PM At a special meeting on Tuesday night, the Homer-Center School Board approved the district’s health and safety plan. The plan had one addendum to it: the fact that the district would continue to monitor the CDC guidelines for masking or other Covid-19 mitigation efforts.  Superintendent Curtis Whitesel said that the plan could change as conditions change.

HOMER-CENTER SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES NEW CBA WITH HOMER-CENTER EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS

During a special meeting Wednesday night, the Homer-Center School Board approved a new collective bargaining agreement with the Homer Centeral Educational Support Professionals. Details on the agreement were not announced, but the deal is a five-year agreement that will run through the end of the 2026 school year.  Superintendent Curtis Whitesel did talk about the biggest part of the agreement, which focused on their salaries. In other business, the board approved with regret the resignation of elementary principal Holly Rougeaux, as she has taken an administrative position with the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District.  Special Education Director Beth Genchur was named the interim elementary principal until the end of the school year.

HOMER-CENTER SCHOOL BOARD HEARS CONCERNS ON FAILING STUDENTS IN HIGH SCHOOL By Josh Widdowson Feb 18, 2021 10:00 PM At their meeting Thursday night, the Homer Center School Board heard some concerns from the district’s high school principal about students failing in classes. Principal Jody Rainey told the board that there are a few more students who are failing classes this year than last year at this time.  Rainey said that the numbers are not at the extremes as of yet. In other business, the board did have to deal with being “zoom-bombed” during the early part of the meeting.  During a presentation for the Elementary Wildcat Student Recognition, several new meeting participants showed up at once and started saying rude things.  The meeting was disrupted for several minutes as the meeting room was shut down so the trouble makers could be removed and the meeting could re-start.  Superintendent Curtis Whitesel said that they are already looking for solutions to
