Her most recent book, the firebrand and the firstrt lady, one the smith book award and was named best adult Nonfiction Book of the year by the American Library association. It was also a finalist for the Andrew Carnegie mellon for excellence in nonfiction and long list of our National Book award. Emily wilson resides in winstonsalem North Carolina. As a student at the Womens College in greensboro she pursued both campus politics and poetry with vigor. Long involved with the North Carolina Humanities Council she is been a, lecturer, organizer and advocate. She published poetry and taught creative writing and the North Carolinas Poetry Program and in the Community Colleges locally.
