As a student at the Womens College in greensboro she pursued both campus politics and poetry with vigor. Long involved with the North Carolina Humanities Council she is been a, lecturer, organizer and advocate. She published poetry and taught creative writing and the North Carolinas Poetry Program and in the Community Colleges locally.
