MASSENA â Contracts have been awarded for phase two of the Massena Central School Districtâs $49.6 million capital project, with work starting this summer.
The general construction contract was awarded to Bette & Cring, LLC with a base bid of $4,665,000. The mechanical construction contract was awarded to Northern Mechanicals, Inc. with a base bid of $7,715,000. The electrical construction contract was awarded to S&L Electric, Inc. with a base bid of $2,569,000.
The low bidder for the electrical work had been Watson Electric, Inc., but they withdrew their bid because of a mathematical error, and the contract was awarded to the next lowest bidder.

A $10 million construction project has been completed at Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport for Coast Flight that includes new hangars, a new flight school and fueling facility for private jets and prop planes.
C&S Companies replaced eight existing buildings that were deteriorating and had outlived their usefulness with three new buildings, including the new flight school, said Cory Hazlewood, company vice president.
“They were very run down and dated. They were just in poor shape,” Hazlewood said. “It really dressed up an area of the airport that was in bad shape.”
OSWEGO â âThe Next Great Idea Oswego County Business Plan Competitionâ (NGI) is calling for entries for the 2021 competition, which will give away $90,000 in prizes. The competition is accepting Business Concept Proposals now through April 30.
âWeâre excited this year to offer $50,000 in seed capital to the overall winner and the second and third place winners will receive a combination of seed capital and in-kind business services worth $25,000 and $15,000 respectively,â said NGI Chairperson Austin Wheelock, deputy director for Operation Oswego County.
âWe feel growing the competition in this way will help attract even bigger and better ideas to the competition and show the region and beyond that we are serious about encouraging entrepreneurship in Oswego County,â said Wheelock.
