newspaper clippings and documents with him after leaving the white house, something his aides apparently refer to as his beautiful mind boxes, this as trump s defense comes under scrutiny even by some conservatives like carl rogue who say trump invited this indictment. plus, there s even more legal trouble for the former president as writer e. jean carroll s second defamation case gets a court date. we ll run through it all straight ahead. good morning and welcome to way too early on this friday, june 16th. we are all glad it is friday. i m jonathan lemire. thanks for starting your day with us. so one week after the latest indictment of donald trump, there s new reporting that pokes holes in one of the former president s defenses. despite claiming earlier in the week that he, quote hadn t had a chance to go through all the boxes that he took with him to mar-a-lago, former white house aides are telling the new york times that trump was unusually attached to those boxes
so the nation will be watching at 10:00 a.m. when the supreme court announces its next batch of decisions. there s still a lot of cases on its docket and we ll hear some today, hear some in the next couple of weeks. i know the white house is anxiously awaiting its rulings on a number of things including student loan relief and debt action. how is the white house preparing? we re confident in the legal arguments we put forward at the court and won t make any crystal ball predictions here beyond that this morning, but certainly we like the rest of the country are waiting to see what this court will do. will the court protect student debt relief that s provided under this president s leadership breathing room to see many student buyers who just needed a little extra help as we came through the pandemic and they prepared to restart their student loan payments. so certainly the consequences of these decisions are enormous. the stakes for hardworking people are enormous, and we re watching
