Each week volunteers gather at Lansingâs Crown Boxing Club to train people with Parkinsonâs disease how to box.
Steve Robinson was diagnosed with Parkinsonâs four years ago. Before that, he wasnât much of an athlete, and boxing wasnât a sport he would ever consider. Steve says, after his diagnosis, his priorities changed.
âIt has made me a lot more balance-oriented. It improves your coordination and balance. It also improves your movement. You tend to get stiff with Parkinsonâs disease. When I first started the class, I couldnât get my right hand above my head. Now I can. Itâs helped a lot.â
