Crossroads Turning Points, Inc. had hoped to expand its substance abuse treatment services by building a 20-bed group care facility, but that plan is now on the back burner.
The Pueblo Board of Appeals voted 2-2 on a special use permit for the group care facility proposal last week, so the proposal did not advance to Pueblo City Council Monday as expected. Beritt Odom, chief planner, said her office is waiting to hear from Crossroads officials about how they want to handle a rezoning request.
The Pueblo Planning and Zoning Commission heard the proposal for rezoning June 9 and also voted 2-2 on the issue. Crossroads had proposed to build the treatment facility on a 2.65-acre site at 1725 W. Pueblo Blvd., which currently houses the Brass Saddle restaurant and bar. However, the proposal to use that location was met with some opposition from all three city boards reviewing the rezoning and special use permit proposals.
