Foolish driver from Stanley was no match for police pursuit

The disqualified driver relaised he couldn t outrun the police DISQUALIFIED driver, Patrick Thomas Mongan, wasn’t too clever when he failed to stop for PCs Mike Fisher and Eleanor Lett in Langley Moor, on Monday, February 1. The pursuit of the Transit Tipper lasted for about ten minutes until Mongan decided he was no match for the officers, who had also been joined by members of the Road Policing Unit, and decided to pull over. He was arrested at the scene for disqualified driving, failing to stop, having no insurance and careless driving. At Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, the 34-year-old, of Croft Close, Stanley, was sentenced to three months in prison for the offences.

HEREFORDSHIRE S burglary hotspots have been revealed in the latest data from the county s police force. The latest figures show the number of burglaries reported to each local policing town in Herefordshire in November, a total of 34. Hereford City Southside and Rural Southside Eight burglaries were reported to the Southside team in November last year. The police were unable to prosecute their suspect for a burglary in Stonebow Road, while a burglary in Commercial Road remains under investigation, as is a further burglary in Coningsby Street. Two burglaries were reported in Edgar Street, with one currently under investigation and no suspect identified for the second.

Platform Housing Group will hand over the final keys to homes at Croft Close early next month. It is the social landlord’s latest development within Lincolnshire, offering a mixture of affordable homes for shared ownership and rent. Completed homes at a new development in the village of Cowbit (44038236) The 32 homes are made up of 14 for affordable rent and 18 shared ownership. The scheme – which began in March 2019 - has been made possible by grant funding from Homes England, Recycled Capital Grant Funding as well as Group funds.
