CCL receives APR (Association of Plastic Recyclers) Critical Guidance Recognition (CGR) for innovative sleeve material that helps boost PET recycling Hybrid polyolefin film facilitates easy separation of labels from PET bottles and other types of plastic containers in the recycling process EcoFloat helps consumer goods companies to reach recycling targets in the United States
CCL Label, the world’s largest converter of pressure sensitive and extruded film materials for decorative, functional and information labels, today announces that another milestone has been reached in providing a sustainable sleeve solution for plastic packaging: the endorsement of the innovative EcoFloat material by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR). The recognition is granted to companies that have developed new products and technologies that are compatible with current recycling infrastructure.

The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) has granted Critical Guidance Recognition to Polyplastics USA for high-gloss HDPE containers with 20 per cent cyclic olefin copolymer (Topas 8007F-600) outer layer. The APR recognition demonstrates that Polyplasticsâ Topas COC is compatible with the HDPE recycle stream.
To meet the packaging industryâs demands for a circular economy, Polyplastics is developing necessary data to support industry-wide sustainability efforts. The APRâs Critical Guidance Recognition follows Topas COCâs certification last year as a recyclable material by the European independent testing lab, Institut cyclos-HTP.
In Europe, Topas materials are reported to be the first cyclic olefin resins in the industry to be deemed recyclable with PE and PP for film and injection moulding uses.
Avery Dennison’s Machine Direction Orientation (MDO) and Polyethylene (PE) films have been recognized to comply with the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) Critical Guidance for HDPE recycling, and the company’s BOPP and MDO films have been identified to comply with APR Critical Guidance for flexible PE recycling.
Following the earlier APR recognition of the Avery Dennison Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) portfolio, the company becomes the first label manufacturer to offer a complete range of films for brands and converters seeking to enhance the recyclability of rigid HDPE and the first to offer APR recognized films for flexible PE plastics.
