Commission on Human Rights (CHR)
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has started a probe on the complaint of Karapatan, an advocacy group, against a Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) official who allegedly harassed women protesters last July 16.
Cristina “Tinay” Palabay, Karapatan secretary general, posted on social media a photograph of the protesters and the DILG official she accused of harassing them. The protest was held outside the DILG offices in Quezon City.
In her post, Palabay said: “This certain Noel Dumalag of the Emergency Operations Command of the DILG (the guy in green) told me this morning (July 16) to eat his [expletive] after he harassed, pushed, harangued a majority of women protesters, including mothers, wives and sisters of drug war victims in the peaceful protest action which observed physical distancing and health protocols.”

Human rights defenders have sought the 100 percent prosecution and conviction of human rights violators in the Philippines.
However, Karapatan Secretary General Cristina “Tinay” Palabay acknowledged that this is “wishful thinking,” especially since there is no accountability in the killings in the country’s war against drugs.
During the Investigative PH media event Thursday, Palabay said that there are already efforts in place to look into the killings.
However, these are hitting “one dead end after another.”
“We need results, actual results,” she stressed. “Those who are killing on the ground should stop what they are doing.”
Palabay thanked the international community for citing human rights violations in the country, such as the International Criminal Court (ICC).
