How high can Frank Mozzicato climb?
Mozzicato, who turns 18 in three and a half weeks, tossed his fourth consecutive no-hitter for East Catholic High School of Manchester, Conn., on Monday.
The left-hander was unranked in the Top 150 Draft Prospects list coming into the amateur season but jumped to No. 51 on the Top 200 list released last week. A UConn commit who already features a 60-grade, high-spin curveball, Mozzicato consistently works in the 90s with his fastball after an offseason stint at Cressey Sports Performance brought the offering out of the upper 80s.
Monday s gem included 19 strikeouts, bringing Mozzicato s season total to 101 over 42 innings. He s walked 15 and surrendered two runs one earned. A batter last recorded a hit against him on April 26, when he chucked a shutout against his team s crosstown rival, Manchester High.
MLB Trade Rumors
Longtime Orioles starter
Chris Tillman is making a comeback attempt, reports Britt Ghiroli of the Athletic. Tillman has been working with Dave Wallace, his former pitching coach in Baltimore, at Cressey Sports Performance in Florida since February, Wallace tells Ghiroli.
Tillman, who recently turned 33 years old, was a regular in the Orioles’ rotation for a good chunk of the last decade. He broke into the majors in 2009 and worked as up-and-down starting depth over the next couple seasons. By 2013, Tillman had locked down a permanent rotation spot, making at least 30 starts every year from 2013-16. He earned an All-Star berth in 2013 during a season in which he tossed 206 1/3 frames of 3.71 ERA ball.

“I’m very happy for the opportunity,” told Sanchez to the FEVEBEISBOL official website. “There’s been a lot of talk about myself playing for the National Team. I was getting ready for another opportunity at the MLB level. There’s also a time you want to stay with your family. During this time, I received the offer from FEVEBEISBOL, and I accepted. . There are not many baseball players who have earned a World Series ring and an Olympic medal. I have the chance to become one of t
NEW YORK (AP) Don Mattingly starred in the action-packed 1980s. Now the Miami Marlins manager, Donnie Baseball worries about a record lack of hits and not just from his team’s bats. “I don’t think it’s cyclical at this point,” he said. “There’s so much swing and miss, it’s kind of off the charts. I think it’s something that we have to address.”
