Abandoned bear cub rescued on Ute Pass CPW SE Region and last updated 2021-05-03 19:35:28-04 DENVER — A bear cub was rescued after being abandoned during Sunday night’s storm on Ute Pass above Manitou Springs. A homeowner found the cub and called the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Colorado Springs office. When Officer Cassidy English arrived, she found the cub near death. English began administering fluid and warming the bear cub with a blanket and heater. After assessing the cub, she took it to CPW’s Frisco Wildlife Rehabilitation Center near Del Norte. CPW says to never pick up abandoned wildlife and to call CPW for their experts to assess the animals.

(KRDO) A bear cub that was found abandoned during Sunday night s storm has a new lease on life after being rescued by Colorado Parks & Wildlife. CPW shared pictures of the bear on Twitter Monday and credited a homeowner near Manitou Springs who smartly called officers after discovering the bear. The bear cub was found in Ute Pass but was picked up by CPW on Monday. The cub was given fluid and warmed up with a blanket and heater. No other cubs were reported found, and CPW didn t report if the homeowner had interactions with any other bears.
