For some time now, persons here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have been speculating about what would feature in the crater of the La Soufrière volcano once the explosive eruption phase subsided.
Questions surfacing on call-in radio programmes included: Would it leave a lake as it did after the 1971 eruption? Will there be another dome as was seen with the culmination of the 1979 activity?
Then, before scientists could reveal what they had discovered from satellite images provided by partners working along with the La Soufriere Monitoring Team, a photograph surfaced and gained instant popularity.
