A £3,000 award from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks has helped Westbury Town Council s ongoing efforts to provide community support to its vulnerable residents during the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. The council received the award through SSEN’s Resilient Communities Fund to boost its work in the local area. Staff and volunteers set up food banks, prescription and shopping collection and delivery, and even dog walking services for those isolating or shielding in response to the pandemic. By working in partnership with Wiltshire Council, Crosspoint and White Horse Ministry, the Council has been able to pool resources to extend the level of funding and support needed to cater for its community.
AN electricity provider has installed more than 80 low-voltage monitors around Oxfordshire which will help it to keep up with the shift in electricity demand. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has installed the devices so that it can see live, up-to-date changes in how people are using electricity. As the Climate Change Committee (CCC) forecasted that by 2050 demand on electricity networks could treble, Project Local Energy Oxfordshire (LEO), is working to understand how communities can play an active role in this journey. Through its smart grid trials, Project LEO is helping prepare for a shift in the electricity system, from one where energy is only consumed to one where it can be produced, stored, balanced and sold back to the system.

Subject: West Marginal Way SW - Duwamish Trail Connection
We support SDOT s proposal to add a two-way protected bike lane in the southbound curb lane of West Marginal Way SW from the signal at West Marginal Place SW to the half-signal and crosswalk at the north end of the Duwamish Trail on the east side of the street. The protected bike lanes would fill in the missing link in the Duwamish Trail from South Park and Highland Park Way to the Spokane Street Bridge and the Alki Trail. This is a regional bike route leading to the Alki Trail, West Seattle Junction, Green River Trail, SODO, Downtown Seattle, and the Mountains to Sound Trail. The route serves marginalized and underserved communities in the Duwamish Valley. Filling this gap is part of the Seattle Bicycle Master Plan. It has been the top priority of Cascade Bicycle Club and Seattle Neighborhood Greenways for the Duwamish Valley and West Seattle peninsula. This route is critical for all bike traffic between n
MLK Day of Service. Tonight, we received a report and photos to share with you!
We wanted to thank everyone who turned out today, 23 folks put in over 52 hours of time to help pick up, spruce up and do demo work here in Highland Park.
We filled multiple bags with roadside trash from the Holden/Highland Park Way detour route [please don’t litter folks] and from adjacent Riverview Park and throughout the neighborhood.
A small number of highly motivated, dedicated volunteers worked to pull down 100-year-old plaster from the Club dance hall ceiling preparing for the refresh to come. Special thanks to Peter, Bruce, Billy, Greg, Emory, and Shawn for a dusty job well done!
