Welcome to allergy season.
âWeâre starting to see pollen uptick across the area,â said Craig Evanego, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
Pollen is the pesky, powdery substance needed for plants, trees, grasses and weeds to reproduce. Itâs transported through the air and can trigger an allergic reaction when entering the respiratory system.
âWeâre famous for our allergies here,â said Dr. Kevin Lynch of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians Family Medicine Leola.
Lynch added, âWeâre definitely getting right into the thick of it now.â
The tree and grass pollens Thursday were high and moderate, respectively, according to Weather.com.

And it’s because of this continuous snow that we can expect a foot of accumulation between now and Tuesday.
“This is a long-duration storm. It’s probably going to last all the way into Tuesday morning,” AccuWeather meteorologist Brett Rossio said. “The intensity will vary, but it will be consistent.”
A dying area of low pressure over the Ohio Valley and a new one developing off of the eastern seaboard near Carolinas are partially to blame for the changing intensity of the storm and its slow-moving nature.
