In January 1848, six Mormon men bunked together in a small wood cabin along the South Fork of the American River in Cullumah, as the Nisenan named the land where they had lived for thousands of years, meaning “beautiful valley.” The men, part of the U.S. Army Mormon Battalion, had traveled from Iowa to San Diego to fight in the Mexican-American War, which, fortuitously or not, was close to an end upon their arrival. JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Postmaster Spirits hasnât been around too long, but owner Ross Jones has already made its impact felt throughout the state.
âI called Craig Christensen, our local state representative, and with his help and Jon Chadwell, the EDC in Newport, we were able to write a new law,â Jones said.
The new law is House Bill 1763, which will allow distilleries in the state like Postmasters Spirits to distribute their own products, instead of having to rely on a middleman.
