JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Postmaster Spirits hasnât been around too long, but owner Ross Jones has already made its impact felt throughout the state.
âI called Craig Christensen, our local state representative, and with his help and Jon Chadwell, the EDC in Newport, we were able to write a new law,â Jones said.
The new law is House Bill 1763, which will allow distilleries in the state like Postmasters Spirits to distribute their own products, instead of having to rely on a middleman.

NEWPORT, Ark. (KAIT) - The city of Newport filed a lawsuit in Jackson County Circuit Court on Monday, April 5 with 11 different counts, including breach of contract after the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission approved the sale of Natural State Wellness Enterprises, LLC to Good Day Farm, LLC back on Nov. 10, 2020.
The sale transferred the cultivation facility from Newport to Pine Bluff.
The city of Newport, the Newport Economic Development Commission, the Northeast Arkansas Charitable Foundation, and the Newport-Jackson County Industrial Development Bond Board are seeking over $5 million in damages “without notice” about the sale and transfer.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Early Friday morning there was an armed carjacking in Memphis, according to DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department.
DeSoto County Deputies and Olive Branch Police Officers spotted a stolen truck at the Flying J at Highway 78 and Hacks Cross Rd in Olive Branch around lunchtime.
Deputies approached the truck & detained one suspect.
The driver took off & rammed a DCSD patrol car.
The deputy began a pursuit down Highway 78 westbound.
