Virginia man arrested for alleged drug trafficking, weapon charges

The release states deputies stopped a vehicle on Fort Campbell Boulevard after speeding on Interstate 24. As deputies approached the vehicle, a smell of marijuana was allegedly emanating from the vehicle. The driver was identified as Charles A. Peterson, 59, Scottsville, Virginia, and was asked to step out of the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and allegedly found a loaded handgun, synthetic drugs, marijuana, cocaine and items reportedly used for the packaging and sale of narcotics, according to the release. Peterson was arrested and charged with speeding, trafficking in synthetic drugs, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and first-degree possession of cocaine.
