Boarders at a Middelburg school have been getting sick because the water reticulation system has failed and the responsible authority is not trucking in enough water for their basic sanitary needs.
No water and high temperatures have hit thousands of residents in the Karoo towns of Middelburg and Cradock, as well as nearby villages, as the municipality admits that their water reticulation system had become ‘unstable’ due to constant load shedding.
Despite the municipality awarding a R14.6-million contract for the repair of two streets, covering less than 1,500 metres, in Cradock, Eastern Cape, residents are still fixing their crumbling roads themselves. Councillors and members of the provincial legislature have promised to ask how a road.
