The FIR states that although the cattle trader showed the purchase documentation that the cattle was brought from the local market, the cow vigilantes abused him, asked him to “go back to Pakistan” and assaulted him, which resulted in his death.
Refusing to quash a criminal case filed against a man for alleged cow slaughtering and transportation for sale, Justice Shamim Ahmed said "in Hinduism, the belief and faith is that cow is representative of divine and natural beneficence and should therefore be protected and venerated".
