The UAE has vaccinated 112,521 residents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The country s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 4.31 million. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 43.62.
Meanwhile, MoHAP has announced dedicating vaccination centres only to elderly people and those with chronic diseases in the light of the spike in infections over the past weeks.
The ministry added that over the 4-6 weeks, other segments of society may get vaccinated after prior appointment.

Uber has announced that it will offer discounted rides to people looking to receive Covid-19 vaccination in the UAE, in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.
Riders will be able to avail 25 per cent off two Uber rides, up to Dh20 each to and from public vaccination centres across the UAE. The rides will commence from January 25 until February 8 for people of all ages and nationalities.

UAE: Compulsory Covid tests expanded to include teachers

Ministry of Education also issues salary cut warnings to those violating Covid safety measures.
Teachers and education staff at UAE public schools need to take a Covid-19 PCR test every 14 days, the Ministry of Education has announced. Only fully vaccinated employees of the ministry are exempted from the requirement.
The employees will need to take the tests at their own expense. Those who are not medically eligible to take the vaccine will still need to take the PCR test every 14 days, but the cost will be footed by the ministry.

The initiative is in line with UAE s plan to vaccinate more than 50 per cent of the country s population by the end of March.
Etisalat has rolled out a vaccination drive for eligible employees free of cost across the UAE in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
The inoculation drive began on Wednesday at Etisalat’s Abu Dhabi headquarters Building A, where a station was set up for employees to get the vaccine. The initiative is in line with UAE s plan to vaccinate more than 50 per cent of the country s population by the end of March.
