Cantrell said at a news conference that the city’s positivity rate is currently 1.5 percent and nearly 21 percent of Orleans Parish has received at least a first vaccine dose. Restaurants and businesses will be allowed to operate at 75 percent capacity. Gatherings will be limited to 75 people indoors and 150 outdoors.

The church issued a statement on Fri., Feb. 26, calling the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine “morally compromised, as it uses the abortion-derived cell line in development and production of the vaccine as well as the testing.” The Pfizer and Moderna shots “can be morally acceptable for Catholics as the connection to abortion is extremely remote,” the statement said.

According to the Director of Code Enforcement, more than 250 people were inside the establishment on Sun., Feb. 28 at around 12:15 a.m., most people “reportedly failed to wear facial coverings,” and bartenders were serving alcohol past the 11 p.m. curfew. Modified Phase Two guidelines went into effect at 6 a.m. on Fri., Feb. 26. Under the new eased guidelines, indoor gathering sizes have increased to 75 people and outdoor gatherings have increased to 150 people with limits at tables now up to 15.
