today on inside politics, two new rulings, two 6-3 decisions, two more sweeping changes to american life. the supreme court tilts the scales to the right on speech versus gay rights and on a signature biden policy to zero out student debt. plus, the ruling sparked fury in congress and celebration on the gop campaign trail. republicans say the justices ruled correctly. democrats say they are controlled by the maga right. and justice versus justice. the final day of the term sees another pair of on-the-bench trading jabs over law and life. i m dana bash. let s go behind the headlines and inside politics. up first, it is a new world defined by new math. 6-3, the supreme court ends its session with two more decisions and two more clear reminders that elections have consequences. donald trump put three justices on the bench, neil gorsuch, brett kavanaugh, and amy coney barrett. they have all ruled in the last two days to push the country right in ways that many of you will

[applause] nobody said well, you are not in the constitution, you are back to be a quarter of a person. jesse: by the way the ladies of the view probably didn t run this by their travel agents but abortion is illegal in the bahamas. just thought you should know that. and the politician who may as well be a co-host on the view sounded exactly as you would expect the mayor of chicago to sound. ing if you thomas he said [bleep] clarence thomas. clarence thomas. he said that we are going to stand idly by why they take our rights? jesse: when you have the biggest unit in chicago, they let you say whatever you want. so how did the media cover the reaction on the streets to the decision? well, the same way they covered the bl

egregiously wrong and deeply damaging. the three liberal justices dissenting, warning the ruling will lead to the curtailment of women s rights and of their status as free and equal citizens. on capitol hill, the reaction was swift. disgraceful. disgraceful judgment. it s absolutely a major issue on the ballot. largest governmental overreach in the history of our lifetime. kevin mccarthy told cnn he supports codifying a 15-week abortion ban at the national level. the supreme court upheld mississippi s 15-week ban in its ruling overturning roe. with the support of chief justice john roberts, who opposed overturning roe entirely. the right to life has been vindicated. the voiceless will finally have a voice. congressional democrats left with little recourse, given they lack 60 votes in the senate to overcome a gop filibuster. the senator from my state, the senator from west virginia, if you say you re for women, then do not use an old law that was not even, again,
to carry a gun. the justices this morning throwing out a new york law that required residents to prove they had a reason to carry a gun outside the home. the ruling was 6-3 with justice clarence thomas writing for the conservative majority. he said the special cause to carry a concealed handgun was a violation of the second amendment right to bear arms. we have more details on this dramatic decision. reporter: the immediate affect is to strike down this gun law in new york. it required people to show proper cause to get a license to carry a concealed handgun in public. it s now struck down similar laws in six other states will also be struck. more consequentially, this decision will also prompt challenges to all kinds of gun laws across the country. and that s because this decision is really changing the framework on how judges will evaluate gun laws moving forward, and this conservative court is saying for the first time that the constitution guarantees the right to carry
