it s not typical of most candidates, is it? it really isn t. donald trump, i think you ve heard him say it, that he s very, very rich, right? i mean, this is going to be his bumper sticker. the politicians that i cover who have some wealth often have a really difficult time talking about their wealth. remember now hillary clinton started this campaign, saying that they were dead broke when they left the white house, and then she had to turn somersaults to get herself out of that spot saying, i know we have a lot more money than most americans. and mitt romney in the last campaign made a $10,000 bet. said his wife had a couple cadillacs. got in trouble for that. here you have donald trump coming in saying, you know what, i am rich. you should vote for me because i am successful. i can make you successful. and all of this, don, at a time when income inequality is kind of the buzzword of this campaign. so he kind of goes against the grain and says, vote for me
good evening, everyone. i m erin burnett. outfront tonight, carte blanche. this man smiling with president obama could save or sink europe s economy. and ours. francois hollande has just won free reign to two whatever he wants. while american headlines today went all in on greece. when all is said and done, is just another delay of the inevitable default. the fate of europe was decided in paris. france is the heart and the wallet of the eu because france isn t greece, or even spain. it is the eu. second only to the almighty germany in size. if either fall, the eu is done. and that s why the vote in paris is the story today. overnight, president francois hollande s socialist party got a voter mandate, winning an absolute majority in parliament. that s like controlling the house, the senate and the presidency. and hollande plans to use it. he has promised french voters the moon. this really isn t, everyone, about taking a side on the spending versus austerity as a national po
iraq. the guy who says you should be able to marry anyone you want. the guy who created 4 million new jobs. it s not that we don t think this president is trying. no one is arguing whether he would be president. a mustang and a chevy pickup truck and drives a couple cadillacs. instead of high fiving each other on days where there are bad news, they should stop sitting on their hands and work on some of these answers. he should be running on what he s done. how about saying this. my way is the highway. we re going to build this country the way eisenhower did it in the 50s. i m going to be involved in a dinner and i hear it is selling like hot cakes. mitt romney will join us for the dinner. i m looking forward to getting one of these pancakes. let s get right to our panel. the chief investigative reporter ken vogel joins us live from d.c. from the nation s capital, washington post columnist and
very well off, but mitt romney is a different breed of cat. his net worth is more than the last eight presidents combined. his wealth is nothing bad. it s not a morally good thing or bad thing about mitt romney, it s just a fact about him. but it is a strategic conundrum for the romney campaign. how to keep the candidate relatable and create the sense among voters he may have some idea what the average american s life is like despite his long vast wealth. it won t change who mr. romney is, but given his own mega wealth, how he talks about the issue of wealth and who has money and who doesn t is a really sensitive subject for that campaign. i m not concerned about the very poor. rick, i ll tell you what, 10,000 bucks. $10,000 bet. i m not in the betting business. oh, okay. i drive a mustang and a chevy pickup truck. anne drives a couple cadillacs, actually. i like being able to fire people
medicaid program without any federal cuts at all, that s just in the state budget. just state cuts in pennsylvania alone. now jared, with all of this, the blessings of myth romney, he said about president obama last night we ll i ll show you. president obama thinks he is doing a good job. it makes you think that flying around for four years in air force one, and staffers telling you you re doing a great job, you might become out of touch, and that s what happened. president obama is out of touch mitt romney says. let me show you how intouch mitt romney has been. i drive a mustang, and a pickup truck, ann drives a couple cadillacs. rick, i ll tell you what, a
