D.C., Maryland and Virginia have ended mandates to wear face coverings, bringing their mask guidance into line with the most recent recommendations from federal health authorities.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday that vaccinated people can forgo masks in most indoor and outdoor settings, where local laws permit.
“If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic,” CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said.

Clay County COVID-19 Positivity Rate Drops Below County Mask Mandate Requirement

Spencer, IA (KICD) Tuesday morning, the Clay County Board of Supervisors heard a COVID-19 update from Colette Rossiter with Clay County Public Health. Rossiter says that Clay County’s positivity rate has dropped to under the 5% rate minimum for the County Mask Mandate. Art Hamrick, the Board Chair, says if that rate remains under 5% for two Sundays, they can begin looking at lifting the mandate.
Clay County Public Health also says Osceola, O’Brien, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Pocahontas, and Emmet Counties have also reported positivity rates of under 5% as well.
