Quilts of Valor Ceremony The Wayne County Quilts of Valor and Fairfield National Bank will be holding a Quilts of Valor Ceremony on Sunday, November 13th @ 2 pm. The ceremony will take place at the First Christian Church in Fairfield. Approximately 50 Wayne County veterans will be recognized for their service. The Wayne County Board met last night and opened the meeting with a moment of silence in honor of Deputy Sean Riley. County Highway Engineer Dennis Seidel told board members preliminary paperwork and engineering studies should begin soon to change the intersection at Enterprise Road and Route 161 to a four-way stop. Rebuild Illinois funds will be used for the project, and he anticipates it to get started in late summer. Chairman Amy Pollard also said a plaque honoring Deputy Sean Riley would be placed in the courthouse, and Sheriff Chris Otey thanked board members and county officeholders, along with the public at large, for their support. He was Section 23 President this past year and graduated as a co-valedictorian from Wayne City in May. He said he has met with various entities about possibilities, including implementing a four-way stop, but he doesn’t want to create another problem while attempting to fix another, as sight distance is key in placing stop signs. He anticipates more information in the next week. At the conclusion of the meeting, Royce Carter announced he would resign from the board, effective immediately, as he has moved out of the area.
