Ocean County Commissioners announced on Monday that two majors roads will have road work done in Lakewood starting on Tuesday evening around 6:00 pm, that should be wrapped up by Friday.
Project 1 underway is to restripe Prospect Street which includes removing the current stripes from about 200-feet north of Cross Street to Williams Street then to a three-lane section which includes a two-way left turn lane, left turn lanes at specific intersections as well as two through lanes.

Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson is the heir to his family’s Bridgeport political dynasty and someone who was believed to have aspirations for higher office, maybe even the mayor’s office once held by his grandfather and uncle.
A federal indictment returned Thursday against Thompson means that’s never going to happen, no matter the outcome of the court proceedings to follow.

The scrutiny that comes with being a Daley in Chicago politics is not to the liking of every family member, witness Richard M. Daley’s son, Patrick, who now lives in Montana.
Flags will be flown at half-staff for the next week starting Friday across Ocean County government buildings in memory of former Ocean County Prosecutor and Toms River Mayor Tom Kelaher, who passed away this past Sunday at the age of 88.
Kelaher dedicated his life to serving others, whether it be with the U.S. Military, Ocean County Prosecutors Office, as Toms River Mayor, as a parishioner at St. Joseph s Roman Catholic Church and as a husband, father and grandfather.
He truly had a heart of gold and an infectious smile.
