STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. District Attorney Michael E. McMahon expressed strong opposition to a proposed plan where the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad no longer would take the lead in investigating fatal crashes on Staten Island and throughout New York City.
“The City Council’s proposal to take duties of investigating vehicular crimes out of the hands of the NYPD is a dangerous move that will have a serious impact on the prosecution of these cases and hurt innocent victims throughout the five boroughs,” McMahon posted on his Twitter feed.
