The leader of North East Lincolnshire Council is facing a vote of no confidence after no independent investigation was made into events involving former deputy John Fenty and his business links with a convicted fraudster.
Councillor Philip Jackson has been told by members of the opposition he needed to stand down to give the council a fresh start.
A vote will be held at a full council meeting on Thursday,March 18 following a after a motion over the council leadership.

Former deputy leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, John Fenty, is to step down as a councillor at the May elections.
He is one of a number of councillors who will not be contesting their wards in the forthcoming local elections due to be held in May.
North East Lincolnshire Council chiefs said plans are underway to hold the elections on May 6 and encouraged people to secure their right to vote by registering for a postal vote or proxy vote unless they wanted to attend a polling station.
