San jose city hall, where activists nearly took over the meeting. We have more now on the struggle over affordability. Reporter she left an abusive husband and spent weeks in a shelter with her children. Sometimes in the family car. [ speaking in spanish ]. No. Reporter she says what shes learned since then is that landlords wont rent affordable apartments to a single mother with several children. So she joined rent control advocates today in demanding the city implement immediate and stricter rent control in san jose. The group flooded the City Council Rules Committee meeting which was addressing the issue. The crowd was so large, the meeting had to be moved to the Council Chambers so everyone could get in. We need to do something now. Theres not many other avenues we have. We do have this avenue of renters rights.
