Brian, you are in maplewood. The sound of silence. What you got . The roar of the leaf blower. If that sound drives you nuts you might want to consider moving to maplewood, new jersey. The town council band gas powered leaf blowers the summertime. They give it a try with a oneyear ban last year. They like the peace and quiet so much that they put full effect permanent ban. It is may 15 september 30. No gas leaf blowers. We had meetings with the town council about it. They were trying to compromise but there is never any compromise. The blowers create a Health Hazard and annoyance to area residents. The mayor says increased use of a gas blowers in the summer got way out of hand. About 14 years ago we passed an ordinance requiring landscapers to use a 65decibel leaf blower. We tried to enforce it and it became unenforceable. They did not honor the agreement we had. But landscapers are fighting back. The new jersey Landscape Association says theyre going to challenge this in court. It onl
