it appears americans don t like the prospect of using the budget as a tactic or to shut the government down. you re the money guy, would it be the end of the world as we know it? neil: probably wouldn t be but they re right to protest using the government and the mechanics and shutting it down to force a point on the left or right. when democrats were in this position on funding for the military after controversial wars, republicans were crying foul. the fact is we have had a lot of shutdowns over the years and the fact 19 or 20 just since the late 1970 s so it s not unusual this happens. we survived it, obviously the worst was during the 95 shutdown. even then republicans claimed victory because it led to less spending and that was the jet genesis for work to welfare.
