Rain doesn t dampen spirits at Stephenville Fourth of July celebration

You can’t rain on this town s parade!
This year, Stephenville began its Independence Day Celebration on July 3 at 9 a.m. with a grand parade. Heavy rain showers started a few minutes after the parade began, but the patriotism proceeded.
Following the parade were family festivities such as the Elks Lodge Barbeque Cookoff, Elk’s Lodge Car Show, and the speedy lawnmower races. Activities including mini golf, the Great American Petting Farm, face painting, and train rides, were also all available to the public. Delicious food from local vendors was also at hand for everyone to enjoy.
Shivani Peterson has one word to describe what it’s been like working in the mortgage industry since the pandemic hit.
“It’s a circus,” said Peterson, a mortgage advisor at All Western Mortgage in Reno. “In 2020, I don’t think I saw my family or slept.”
Peterson likely speaks for most mortgage advisors across the country. Last year, lenders extended a record-setting $4.3 trillion in mortgages, according to Black Knight Inc., a technology and mortgage data company. The previous record was set in 2003, when the Federal Reserve cut interest rates and spurred a boom in refinancing that led to $3.8 trillion of new mortgages that year.
