Greater Hartford Branch NAACP President Corrie Betts said he is deeply disappointed with the decision to dissolve the consent decree between the city and the U.S. Department of Justice, as it was put in place to address issues of racial profiling and other civil rights violations by the Hartford Police Department.
In a letter to Members of the Court of Common Council about the Dooley ruling, Mayor Luke Bronin said that her decision in dissolving the consent decree emphasized the significant work that the city has done, the progress that the city has made and she found the claims made by the plaintiffs in their most recent motion were without merit.
