COVID-19 is once again rearing its ugly head, causing hospitalizations and cases to increase while the release of updated booster shots is still about a month away.
Dr. Sarah Kemble, state epidemiologist, said COVID-19 numbers have been steadily increasing over the past month in Hawaii and nationwide and that there are now concerns for Maui.
More COVID patients are also being admitted to Hawaii hospitals, with a weekly average of 107 per day reported Wednesday – the highest to date this year.
It was highlighted that while globally a total of 2,96,219 new cases of Covid were reported in the past seven days, India, which contributes to nearly 17 per cent of global population, reported only 223 cases (0.075 per cent of global new cases) in the past week.
